Over his more than 35-year career, RJ "Rollie" Lutes was the epitome of the professional accountant. Born and raised in Moncton, Rollie put himself through the Commerce program at UNB, graduated top of his class, and went on to become a partner in Ernst & Young and one of the country's most sought after tax advisors. He was also a generous mentor to many in the field, and left an impressive legacy of successful CAs and friends. Rollie died in 2002. As a testament to his impact on Canadian business, and at the initiation of one of the many accountants Rollie helped over his career, the University of New Brunswick has instituted the Roland J Lutes Memorial Scholarship in his honour. Those who knew Rollie will understand how much this would mean to him.
